  • Registration for the 9th conference on Compact Stars in the QCD phase diagram (CSQCD IX) is now open!
  • CSQCD IX is an IN-PERSON meeting and will take place at the Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta, Canada from August 1-5, 2022.


CSQCD IX will be held at the Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta Canada from August 1-5 2022. There are several ways to get to Banff:

  • International travelers: The closest international airport to Banff is the Calgary International Airport (YYC). It is recommended that you fly to Calgary and then continue on to Banff through one of the options below.
  • Driving: Banff is about a 90 minute drive from the Calgary International Airport via the TransCanada Highway.
  • Bus: Several options exist for getting from the Calgary International Airport to Banff via bus. These include: Banff Airporter , Brewster Express , Discover Banff Tours , Mountain Park Transportation , and Banff Chauffeur
  • Please be aware that all visitors to Banff National Park are required to purchase a park pass. Please see this link for more information. Some shuttle services (see above) may include this fee, so please check before purchasing.

There are many activities you can do while in and around Banff, too numerous to list here. But please see for some inspiration. Below we list a few deals/suggestions:

  • The Banff Gondola is a popular destination. There is a free shuttle that leaves from downtown Banff every hour or so.
